Located in the centre of the globe is the world’s second largest continent called Africa. If one looks at the map of Africa one can see that it covers a huge portion of the earth and if one flattens the map out it would certainly fall somewhere in the center of the globe. The total area covered by this continent is 30,221,532 square kilometers.

Some claim that the continent derives its name from the cave dwellers of Africa. It’s surrounded by water bodies on nearly all its side and connecting with west Asia on its northern eastern borders. Today the map of Africa contains around fifty three countries; this is in the post colonial Africa.

Africa is one of the world’s poorest continents, in spite of having an abundance of raw materials the continent still lacks behind due to illiteracy, poor health systems and corrupt governmental regime. There are over a thousand different languages spoken in Africa, they also consists dialects of Asian and European origins.

The biggest religion of Africa is Islam though there are various other religions. The sub- Saharan Africa is the least developed part of the continent. If one were to make a travel map on Africa it would consist of all kinds of topography ranging from deserts to mountains to low lying areas.
