The economy of the country runs on fuel. It is the eight largest reserves of natural gas in the world. All this accounts for nearly thirty percent of the GDP. The economy has benefited from the rise of oil prices globally. Agriculture is also an important sector in Algeria with twenty five percent of the people being employed in this sector, the major cash crop produce here is that of cotton.
