maps of antarctica

Antarctica is the most isolated place on the face of the Earth. It lies south of the artic circle. Antarctica maps an area of around 14,000, 000 square kilometer. There are no permanent resident on this land mass, though there are around thousand non permanent residents.

It is the coldest, driest and the windiest of all places on earth. It is actually considered as an icy desert by all. The maps of Antarctica prove the point of its isolation and extreme conditions. The temperature here varies from -80 degree to -90 degree in the winters in the inner most parts to five to fifteen degree in the summer near the coasts.

Sunburn is a frequent happening here as the surface reflects most of the light. The aurora australis is a spectacle to watch in the sky here. This land mass has no government and though many countries claim over particular territories, the claims are not recognized universally.

The economy of this place consists of small scale expedition tourism. Though minerals have been found here no mineral has been found in Exploitative Quantities. The travel maps of Antarctica would consist of various research stations and tours in the summer season only.
