The maps of Belgium are very small with its area being just 30,528 square kilometers. The various languages spoken in this country are Dutch, French and German. This country declared it self independent from the rule of Netherlands in 1830.

However its formal independence was recognized only nine years later. It is located in north Western Europe and is also a member of the European Union. Its capital city is Brussels and is also the biggest city of Belgium. Its governmental structure consists of being a federal bicameral parliament, whereby it is divided in to two as the Senate and the House of Representatives.

The king is the head of the state with limited powers only.The Belgian state is highly advanced economically; it was one of the first continental nations to go through industrialization. It is the fifteenth largest trading nation of the world. Belgium is a secular country and its Roman Catholic people are countered by another set of free thinking people.

Various historical places on the travel maps of Belgium, there is the city of Brussels and the famous Flemish city of Bruges. Its tourism industry occupies only three percent of the total population.
