Burkina Faso is located in the western part of the African continent. It is a landlocked country. Burkina Faso maps an area of around 274,000 square kilometers. The capital of the country is Quagadougou which is also the largest city in the country.

The official language of the country is French though there are other regional languages too. The country is a semi presidential republic. It got its independence from France in 1960. The name of the country means ‘men of integrity’. The country is still a poor economy.

It has one of the lowest GDP per capita in the world. Agricultural sector is its most important sector as it occupies nearly eighty percent of its workforce and contributes around thirty percent of its GDP. Most of the people in this country follow Islam. This country is however secular in nature.

There is a high rate of unemployment in the country too.
