Maps Of Caribbean

If one was to draw a map of Caribbean then it would have to be located in the Caribbean Sea which is again southeast of Gulf of Mexico and northern America and in the north for the South American continent. The Caribbean is made up of more than seven thousand islands.

These islands are generally called the West Indies; this is because of the explorer called Christopher Columbus who reached these islands in 1492 and believed that he had reached the Indies which was supposed to be in Asia. The name of this continent comes from the ethnic group of this region called the Carib.

Majority of the population of the Caribbean compromises of the Africans, though other mixed races can also be found. The history of this region is very closely linked to that of the slave trade and indentured labour of the nineteenth century. Tobacco and sugar plantations contribute a lot to the economy of the Caribbean another part of the economy is sea and ocean driven where fishing constitutes a major part.
