Comoros is situated off the coast of mainland Africa in the Indian Ocean. Comoros maps an area of around 2,235 square kilometer. The capital of the country is Moroni which is also the biggest city in the country. These groups of islands are also referred to as the Union of Comoros.

The official language of the country is Comorian, Arabic and French. It got its independence from France in 1975. The government here is a federal republic. The country is the southern most member of the Arab Union.  The countries history is however filled with histories of coup in its political spectrum.
