Fiji is an island nation located in the South Pacific Ocean. It lies west of Tonga and east of Vanuatu. Fiji maps an area of 18,274 square kilometer. Its capital city is Suva which is also its largest city. The official languages in the country are English, Bau Fijian and Hindi.

The country got its independence from United Kingdom in 1970. The ethnic composition is dominated by Melanesians followed by Indo-Fijians. Most of the Indigenous people are Christians and the Indo-Fijians are Hindus.

The economy of Fiji is still growing and the foreign exchange comes mostly from the export of sugar and the fast growing tourist industry. Sugar industry is around one third. Though, tourism has helped the economies recover over the past few years. The form of government here is military dictator ship and therefore, criticized by many countries outside.
