Libya is located in Northern Africa and it faces the Mediterranean Sea. It is one of the bigger countries of Africa. Libya maps an area of 1,759, 541 square kilometers. The country was relinquished by Italy in 1947 and then got freed from U.S and France in 1951. Ninety percent of the country is desert. The country has the highest human development index in Africa. The country is still under dictatorship.

The country experiences hot winds called Sirocco and there are also dust storms and sand storms in the country.  The economy of the country is basically based on the revenues from the oil industry.
