Somalia is located on the eastern coast of Africa in the ‘horn of Africa.’ Somalia maps an area of around 637, 661 square kilometers. The capital of the country is Mogadishu which is also the largest city in the country. The official language of the country is Somali and Arabic.

The government of the country is a coalition government. The country got its independence from United Kingdom and Italy in 1960. The country has got a history of colonial resistance.

This was the only country in Africa which was not colonized till the 1920. It was what one would call a dervish state. It had repelled many of the British invasions. The climate of the country is mostly hot.  The agricultural sector is the most important sector of the economy. It contributes around forty percent of the GDP and sixty five percent of the export earnings.
